The owner of this house in a royal estate in Sant Feliu de Guíxols wanted to reform the space. He was clear that as many original elements as possible should be preserved, such as the exposed wooden beams or the polychrome ceiling in some rooms. Regarding the new part, he wanted to ensure a style in keeping with the personality of the estate.
Fusta Floor was in charge of laying the parquet. A natural classic oak parquet was chosen with a touch of white, which brings light to a floor that does not receive excessive natural light. The slat is wide, 19 centimeters.
On this occasion, a laminate was chosen, due to the resistance it provides. This parquet, from the Parador brand, is a mid-range product with good value for money, with enough density and a good click, resistant to scratches and abrasion.
Fusta Floor was also in charge of installing doors and building cabinets, in collaboration with the carpentry company Cideko, from Girona. Some of the original doors managed to be restored.
Skirting boards and moldings from the Orac Decor brand were installed, giving the spaces a timeless and elegant air.
An important aspect of the renovation was to ensure a seamless transition between different materials: between the stone on the walls and the parquet on the floor. It was achieved with the application of a glue suitable for dilations and that maintains aesthetic coherence.
The final result lived up to the expectations of a meticulous and detailed client. The house maintained the regal air of the estate, alternating original elements, new materials and classic touches, which combine wonderfully with the owner’s fantastic heirloom furniture… where we even found a hidden note from his grandfather!
